I paced back and forth in my office, my heart racing as I looked at my phone and re-read the note that Agent Johnson had sent me.

“Looks like we've found our spy—it's that Paul guy. Easier job than I expected it to be,” It read.

Fuck. I knew this Johnson guy was going to be a pain in my ass, but I didn't expect it to be this bad. I wondered what Paul had done to get himself in this mess... no doubt he must have done something he shouldn't have.

“You wanted to speak to me?” Agent Johnson poked his head into my office.

“Yeah, I just wanted to say congratulations on a job well done,” I said, putting on my best poker face and extending my hand to the most average looking guy on the planet. My big hand dwarfed his, and I looked down at him, trying to hide my contempt.

“Thanks, I actually wasn't expecting it to be so easy... but what can I say? When you're good, you're good!” The Agent said with a chuckle, clearly pleased with himself. I growled under my breath, my mind racing... I had to figure out a way to get Paul out of this mess—It was the only way that I'd be getting at Jessica.

“Yes, I'm actually really impressed,” I said, buttering up the CIA man.

“Thanks—You know I'm sure in another life you'd have made an amazing agency man, you certainly have the physique for it!” He said, chuckling and giving me a pat on my massive bicep.

“Appreciate the kind words,” I said to him, “So what's the protocol now with Paul? I mean, he was one of my direct reports and I had been considering moving him to another project... he still has some work outstanding...” I let my voice trail off as I waited for Agent Johnson to offer a solution to my made-up work problem.

“Hmm, well I think it's not really worth the risk to you, to be honest...” The Agent said.

“How would it be a risk to me? Surely you don't think Paul is actually dangerous... I mean, maybe he's stealing secrets, but he's definitely not about to hurt anyone,” I said, surprised at the image the Agent had of the pudgy white guy who I bossed around.

“You never know with these guys. In fact... now that I think about it... maybe everything was way too easy. Maybe that was the problem... maybe I'm walking into Paul's trap!” Agent Johnson exclaimed, his eyes going wild as he continued to flesh out his conspiracy theory.

“Yes yes... how stupid could I be? Of course I should have known that a smart terrorist would have something planned for me!” He said.

I groaned and rolled my eyes... was this guy actually for real? I mean, forget the fact that he didn't even have a clue about who the actual spy was—he was basically convincing himself of some grand story that didn't even exist!

“Yeah...” I said, my voice trailing off as my mind raced with options for how to deal with this idiot.
